Sr. Analyst, Supply & Portfolio Management

Position Description

LifeEnergy is looking for a highly motivated team player to bring knowledge of deregulated energy markets and execution excellence to LifeEnergy. The individual will be responsible for designing and executing analysis, reporting and quantitative decision support for Portfolio Management in our Supply organization. The individual will develop and maintain forecasting, hedging strategy and execution, optimization strategies, margin preservation strategies, and management reporting. The individual must have the capacity to accept new responsibilities and work well in an ever-changing, dynamic atmosphere.

Reporting Relationship

The individual will report to the Director of Supply and Pricing. The success of this individual will depend on their ability to build relationships in an environment while developing dynamic reporting and performing analysis based on the needs of the business. In addition to the Director of Supply and Pricing, other critical relationships will include:

  • COO
  • VP, Finance
  • Director, Operations
  • Director, Sales

Experience Required

  • 3+ years’ experience in Retail Electricity portfolio management, risk management, or pricing management; Natural Gas experience is a plus.
  • Use and familiarity of retail electricity platforms such as POWWR, ESG, ECI, etc. for revenue and gross margin reporting, position reporting, settlements, energy scheduling, etc.
  • Analysis of price and volumetric risk for residential and small commercial markets.
  • Maintenance, development, and validation of forward price curves for power and gas
  • Experience with energy scheduling and QSE activities.
  • Load forecasting, position and risk management analysis
  • Experience in PJM and ERCOT markets, protocols and rules.
  • Deal entry, validation and auditing
  • Work with accounting groups for validation of settlement data and understanding of ISO settlement process
  • Reporting for revenue, gross margin, and position management and risk management.
  • Developing and implementing matrix and custom pricing for residential and small commercial markets is a plus

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Advanced analytic and data management capabilities, advanced Excel, SQL query, PowerBI, Python, R, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and advanced reporting tools
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a sense of personal initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Functional Requirements:

  • Maintenance, development, and validation of forward price curves for power in PJM and ERCOT
  • Quantitative analysis and reporting for load forecast, hedging, risk, and portfolio management
  • Work with Accounting to review and validate ISO settlement data
  • Revenue and gross margin analysis & reporting
  • Assist in maintenance of costing model assumptions for retail products
  • Book executed hedging transactions into the system of record for trades
  • Help confirm commercial customer transactions into the deal entry system(s)
  • Manage and validate booking of deals into systems
  • Assist with development, testing and maintenance of application platforms
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis on market fundamentals, pricing components, and risk exposures associated with deals
  • Ability to lead research for new products, product enhancements, and product redesign, as well as evaluate the potential and practicality of products in development
  • Support for pricing team as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
